Navigating Your Way Through Public Speaking
From 12:00 pm until 1:00 pm
Ever get nervous speaking in front of a crowd? How do I prepare? What’s ok to say and not ok to say? In May’s Lunch and Learn, Shannon Young, Assistant Director of Kid Time Children’s Museum, will provide the tools necessary to navigate through any public speaking endeavor. Shannon landed at Kid Time after decades in marketing, public relations, and broadcasting during which she anchored, reported, and produced television news on both coasts. At the height of her broadcasting career she co-anchored the number one newscast in the state of Virginia addressing more than 100,000 viewers every evening. You may also have seen her in local commercials or heard her on the radio as a “jock”, talk show host, or advertiser. Since she left “the business” she’s co-taught broadcast journalism at SOU and spent far too much time reminiscing about the “good old days” of TV and radio with her husband, Matt, also a retired on-air radio personality. Please come join us as there are sure to be great take-a-ways! Registration is now open.
