Mercy Flights - Serving our Communities for 70 Years!
From 12:00 pm until 1:00 pm
Back in 1949 George Milligan, a local air traffic controller, and many other caring residents of southern Oregon saw their friends and neighbors getting sick or injured and some even dying because they were not able to get advanced medical care sufficiently quickly. Flying a patient to needed medical care was seen as a way to reduce transport times and so Mercy Flights was born as the first private, non-profit Air Ambulance service in the United States.
Doug Stewart, Mercy Flights' CEO, has been in the Emergency Medical Services industry for 33-years. He started his EMS career with Denver Health and Human Services in 1986 and worked there for 8-years. Doug started his employment with Mercy Flights as a Paramedic in 1994 and has had many roles at Mercy Flights which include Paramedic, Field Supervisor, Director of Medical Operations, and Chief Operations Officer. Doug was appointed CEO for Mercy Flights in January of 2014 and is celebrating his 25th year with Mercy Flights.
Doug will tell us more about the Mercy Flights program! Join us for his presentation!
